For a change I thought I get this blog up and running more than twenty-four hours before we leave!!  That magic date will be August 26th, 2019 and I'm really excited!!

The countdown is beginning.   From here we go to Reykjavik for about twenty-four hours, then to Keyflavik and home.   Sigh.   We have a lovely breakfast with several different freshly-baked breads and waffles and the other traditional Icelandic breakfast treats.   And we have a great conversation with our hostess, who explains to us about the Icelandic government, and who shares our views of our president.   (Seems like everyone we meet outside of the US feels the same way!) Winner of three Trip Advisor awards! Some fall color in her front yard! Very easy to drink, Viking arctic berry ale! There is a houseful getting breakfast to day!   When I get to the table there is a spread but I’m not sure who belongs to what, so I just fix a bowl of strawberry yogurt with granola and have a banana.   The kids from Austria are so good about cleaning up!   We are not planning to leave until ten, since our whale watch isn’t scheduled until one o’clock, so we’re the last ones out. See that wind?  That's shy we're not whale watching today! It’s a pleasant drive (any day without fog or rain is a good one!) and we arrive in Dalvik in PLENTY of time to check in.   Turns out it doesn’t matter, since they’ve canceled the afternoon run due to wind conditions.   Well.   At least we’ve gained four hours in today’s schedule.    Tricky Ricky’s handy book talks about Iceland’s first microbrewery and it’s right on our way! They have a brewpub and it has a beer spa!   Of course we have to stop and see if they serve fligh...

Borgarnes to Stykkisholmur - August 28, 2019

What a glorious night’s sleep!   The temperature is perfect, the beds are just soft enough, and the duvet is the ideal weight!   I sleep straight through until morning, and Marilyn does, too!   There was a slight scare last night when the power blipped and her CPAP shut down!   Luckily she had bought a battery pack for the plane trip and so she connected that, in case there was another outage.   There wasn’t, but you never know! In the morning I have time to do my yoga before she is really functional and we go down to a leisurely breakfast around nine.   The spread is very European, with meats, cheese, cucumbers, tomatoes, fresh-baked bread, spreads, lots of cereal choices, and fresh apple and orange slices.   The coffee is fresh and hot and there is hot water for tea or hot chocolate.   After breakfast we chat with Dugar and learn that the photos on the wall are all the people who have owned the property, including the RIVER!, sin...
