Hofn to Kirkjubaejarklaustur, September 8, 2019

We’ve decided that breakfast at 7:30 will give us plenty of time to leave by nine.    And that will give us and hour and a half to get to our amphibian boat (duck boat!) tour of Jokulsarlen Glacier on the Glacier Lagoon’s Jokull.    We traveled a long way for Florida orange juice! These little stone people show up everywhere! It’s supposed to be an hour’s drive and we are plenty early, just the way we like it!    What we aren’t so thrilled about is the low visibility;    but at least it’s not raining!    We’re wearing our rain suits and lots of layers and we’re ready for anything. Note the charging station for electric cars! The dark stuff is ash from the volcanos! You can take pictures of the little icebergs floating on the    lagoon before the ride, and it is fun to do while we’re waiting for our departure time.    Presently we board the boat and don our life vests.    Our tour...

The WC is for the four rooms upstairs and today it is a bit congested.   It doesn’t matter, though, because we aren’t planning to leave until ten.   We just have to stop to see the country’s highest mountain and get to tonight’s guest house, Glacier World Guest House. Such an intense color! We get everything packed up and head back to Skalinn’s for breakfast.   Today I think I’ll have something different and the eggs Florentine sound perfect.   This may be the best Hollandaise sauce ever!   Marilyn has opted for a repeat of yesterday and our buddy behind the counter remembers what she had! We’re both stuffed and ready to venture forth into the gray and drizzly day.   About all today has on tap is driving, so it’s the perfect day to have our first rain.   And it’s really more of a heavy mist, and not at all like a Florida thunderstorm.   The wind, though, can be treacherous at times.
